Women's Changing Roles
The preception of women changed drastically in the 1920's. They not only recieved this gift but they also expressed it. Many women changed they way they acted looked and behaved. There were a new era of women called the flappers. These women were; rebellious, energetic, and bold. They changed the perception on women and who they were. Women also got the freedom to vote. Many women didn't take advantage of this thinking that they weren't werthy of this gift.
Cities and Suburbs
The most common reason for rapid suburb and city growth was the drop of market prices while the cost of opperation rose. This caused the industry and commercial economy to boom. The oppertunities in the suburbs and cities were endless. You could find well paying jobs to help support and raise your family. Transportation also had a great impact in this movement. By the 1920's there were about 70,000 busses that were opperating. This allowed Americans to get to their jobs and places much easier.
American Heroes
Many heroes helped shape the 1920's. Charles Lindbergh known as "Lucky Lindy" was an American pilot famous for the first solo, non-stop flight across the Atlantic, from Long Island to Paris in 1927 in the Spirit of St. Louis. He later became very famous and became the world's best-know aviator. Babe Ruth know as the "Bambino" and the "Sultan of Swat", wan an American MLB baseball player from 1914 to 1935. He made his name know with his home run hitting power and charismatic personality. He was the first player to hit 60 home runs in one season.
Henry Ford
In the late 1880's, Ford worked as an engineer with a lighting company. In his free time he began inventing the horseless carriage. By 1903 he had started his own automobile company. Five years later, Ford sold 30,000 of an improved vehicle called the Model T.
