Prohibition
During this period many people team found different ways to get alcohol. Were there many people who Became Bootleggers-Term used to describe a supplier of illegal alcohol During Prohibition. Speakeasies Were Also created later on. Speakeasies are bars where people come to party and drink alcohol. A major bootlegger was a man named Al Capone. He made $ 60 million a year from bootlegging. He was later convicted of income tax fraud.

Religion
Religion became a major conflict during the 1920's. There were Fundamentalist-(theory of evolution) and those who didn't believe in fundamentalism. Tennessee passed a law banning the teaching of evolution in school. Science teacher John Scopes didn't agree with this law and went to trial. This trial was called the Scopes Trial.

Racial Tensions
Racial tension was still present when there was the great migration of African Americans to the North. In 1919 the Summer was called the Red Summer because of the breakouts between the blacks and whites. Many people were killed and injured during this summer. One incident that occurred was a young African American boy accidentally swam into the "Whites only" area and was stoned and ended up drowning.
A group called the KKK committed crimes against blacks, Catholics, Jews, and immigrants. Only special types of whites were also allowed into this group. Your religion, age, and many more aspects |
